If you were to die tomorrow, where would you be?  If God asked you this question, “Why should I let you into My heaven?”, what would you say?  Are you a good enough person to get into heaven?  Do you know what the Bible says about what happens to a person after they die?

God is holy and His standard is perfection; which means perfect obedience to the law of God.  The problem with our keeping God’s law is a little word known as “sin”.  Sin literally means to miss the mark.

The Bible says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”  (Romans 3:23), and “there is none righteous, no not one” (Romans 3:10).  Therefore, you’re not “good” enough to get into heaven.  We are separated from God by our sin.  In fact, The Bible teaches that “the wages of sin are death” (Romans 6:23).

But there is hope.  The Bible tells us that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16), and that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God loves you so much that he gave you the gift of eternal life through His only Son, Jesus, so that you could spend eternity in heaven.  All you have to do is have faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross to pay for your sins.

The Bible says “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10).  The Bible also teaches “for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of god, not of works, lest anyone should boast”, (Ephesians 2:8-9).  Finally, the Bible teaches us  “for whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Have you done that?  If not, I would like to invite you to pray and ask Jesus to become Lord and Savior of your life.  Pray something like this:

“God, I admit I am a sinner and that I need you.  I ask You to forgive me of my sins and give me freedom from eternal death.  I invite you, Jesus, into my heart to be my Lord and Savior.  Thank you Jesus for saving me. Amen.”

Do you know where you are going to spend eternity?  Studies have shown that 10 out of 10 people die.  Think about it.  Even better, pray about it.
